Covid 19 – The Midas Touch....

A lazy Quarantine evening. Kids gone out in society garden for some fresh air. Me sipping my Tea at my terrace admiring and listening to the silence of the evening which were never ever so peaceful.

The only sound I can hear is of light 80s music from someone’s terrace, I can notice people on their terrace walking strolling , dad and kids playing badminton, mothers chopping vegetables , chatting with moms, mother in laws , one teen doing evening workout with some jazz music , old couple engrossed in evening gardening in their balcony, 2 aunties entertaining themselves with some serious gossips obviously from their respecting balconies (maintaining social distancing)

I see a young girl making her own video in her balcony …. taking her own takes and re- takes lol.. must be to post it over social media (The most IN thing …. 😊)
Such a beautiful sight, reminds me of 90’s, when terraces, balconies, Otlaas were our local desi cafés and lounges lol… Yes! People used to spend hours and hours at these favorite spots.

Loads and loads of things are said, done, written already over the prevailing situation So guys no gyaan here. I am here to just to share and make a note, mark it as a memory, mark my chain of thoughts/emotions during this once in a lifetime situation through my blog.
A thought crossed my mind and it quickly wanted to jot it down ….
The current state reminds me of the very old Story we all have heard - The Midas Touch! The king wished to have loads of Gold , The wish was granted but he never knew the after effects of the Boon.
The cons?

We craved time with family, wives whined over the husband is not having time, working mother complained no time for kids, Parents complained of  son and daughter in law’s time , Kids wished longer holidays, Wished more screen time allowed, we cribbed the monotonous office life, we cribbed  having no time to read, exercise , write and even think. We craved for not been able live our passions and the list seem interminable….

Here you go, all granted by almighty in this one Shot! (Novel Covid 19)
Of course, with the so-called Cons!! (We are all frustrated about)
However, to be honest I am in love with the Pros!  I am loving this simplicity.
We all have at least been able to comprehended one thing “correct” about Life during this lock down, that is “The cost of living” is never expensive, it’s “the Cost of Lifestyle” that is expensive.

All this, Yes Of course along with a strong thought ….

In the midst of chaos, (Cons) there is also an opportunity.
The wound is the place where the light enters you- RUMI 😊

We shall all emerge back soon with that powerful light within us!

The Midas effect will soon be over …. With this hope, Wishing you all Healthy Life ahead….

Stay Home , Stay Safe !

Team Engagement at the times of Covid-19

Since the covid 19 times most of the companies are forced by the circumstances to allow employees to work from home.

However they are all making their best effort to contribute towards the office tasks being in their homes yet in these difficult times they equally need a good dose of Positivity ,feeling connected and  motivated.

Beautiful Article  on how HR, Team leaders can keep their team energised, motivated and engaged  and entertained.

Below are few  offline activities which can be conducted with your teams working from home:

1. Posting a daily Scheduled Quiz  and fixing a valid time for closer. (quiz can be related to your own domain)Announcing the winner fortnightly  or per week (your call) for maximum  correct answer.

Quiz  can be visual..to make it more interesting.involve movies, songs, history, covid-19(a lot many variations can be added)

2. Post a real pic.and let everyone write a short story  on it(word limit to be set)

3. Post Indian map  picture and let them doddle or point out where they were born.

4.Things in common-let your team Mingle up offline and come up with 5 common things.. Tell them to come up as three  different  groups

This will stir a lot of interactions amongst themselves before posting  the common  interests on the group for eg
Richa, jaya, sandeep, bhishek we four  joined the organization  in the same month same year.

5) .3 Favourite things about the company . This will let you know their mindset and liking about the company.

6.Who all Have ever! -You may just post or drop a question like
How many of you have travelled to USA
How many of you have a pet
How many of you have a pink shirt/kurti/top

Many variations...

7. Announcing 2-3dish  to be prepared optional for the next day.  They can Choose any one of them and post their own  pic along with the dish.
(first 3 timely entries can be the winner )

8.Throw a topic and let them Write a paragraph on it.(word limit to be set)

9 Getting involved into some fortnightly  or daily challenges u can set for e.g
-Send a selfie  with your wife and kids send a audio  visual
-how are they feeling to find you at home
-make a hand made card on awareness of covid 19
-Any of your kids activity drawing, scrabbling, dance, song, poem
-Sing a song yourself  record  it with audio  visual  and send in the group.
-Work  out audio  visual  challenge. Ask for a particular exercise a
Or Yoga  set
-Share a childhood  photo  of yours

And many more activities

10. Tasks. Tongue twister

11. You have a minute to win it game can be played where different tasks can be given to be completed  in 1minutes record and send it

12.Elobarate /define  the abbreviations of your company name with adjectives on how you feel  your company's image is. Best answer  will be the winner. (don't give more than an hour for this one)

It will help you what your emmployees think about your company.

Imp notes:

For all the above activities if you are initiating, you need to have space on your phone. You need to be active and  vigilant  on the activities of the group..  Keep a track of entries.

It's not easy to get everyone think alike and make them engrossed offline. Lot of efforts and sportiness will be required.

For keeping it short.. Always add few disciplinary mandatory and easy to manage rules like first 4 entries  will only be considered so that rest of them don't even post if the said number is already reached.

Keep  encouraging the non participating public

You can divide a big team into 2small. Teams with different groups

It's for fun so just announce the winners.. They can be gifted with some goodies once the office re-opens.

So have good times.  Make your team feel most positive, energetic  and most important  we all are still together feeling :)

We stand apart but united! We shall fight these times as well!

Farewell 2020 Blog

Again time for one more Farewell, one of those days to again say good bye to someone formally. It surprises me the way life makes us go through numerous emotions. Trust me this one is one of those sweetly painful feeling where you are not able to decide are you really that sad or it’s a momentarily gloomy feeling. (May be depends on our psychological proximity with that person/people)

We all come across so many people in our lives, our friends, neighbors, colleagues, distant relatives, and many important /unimportant people we meet on daily basis. Take a second and think right from
That office boy at your office
The servant working at your house
To the grocery wala  you used to buy or may be still buy your groceries from…
the new receptionist sitting at your  doctors clinic admiring you from distant  in every 15 seconds just because you seem handsome to her and lets you in a bit earlier then others.. ( lol
The Beautician you go to every month … and she bores /lures you with the new facial scheme lol
The sabjiwali outside your house who welcomes you with a sweet smile saying “madamji bas aapke liye he yeh bhaav hai lol….  (I am sure she must be copy pasting the same dialogue to every good looking madamji and you know it)

Your office people with whom you spent 9 hours. With each one of them you share a special bond. Tiffin buddies, make up buddies, fashion buddies, gossip buddies, tea time buddies , selfie buddies and now the latest  Tik tok buddies ..(lol.)And so on the categorization is endless.
I know you all are chuckling… as you all have experienced this.

And then comes the Farwell time! Last meetings … and then we never see them around us as we used to…We digest the fact or not but all of them they teach us something in life. But whenever your life takes turns the set of people around you keep on shuffling…

Life moves on......Farewells happen, people move on so did I, you and million others in this world. Few people who stayed for ever …? Few for few years… months …. Days and yes even few hours. They all have an interesting part to play in our lives and reversal. It’s up to us to which part to remember and forget or which ones to keep cherishing all through our lives.

The the best part is each moment you spent with them is making a memory … moments getting stored the way your images get stored in your cell phones…  you delete the images you don’t wish to store and you  save and keep which are worth cherishing ( depends on the closeness with that person…) We miss them,  yes we do. You transfer them to your laptop and sometimes when you go through them there is a flash back of memories, you relive those moments..

Dedicated to all the people I met till now in my life …. Farewells happened. Many are forgotten, some which are still alive in my subconscious mind, but few still occupy a special place in my mind and heart and very few special ones which are hard to forget and I opt not to forget them forever!!  Will always Miss you those :-)

But you know you are lucky blessed if there is something which is making your goodbye so hard” I am one of those blessed people. And I am proud!

LOVE YOU ALL! & yes each one of you will be missedJ

GOODBYE JUST TO MEET AGAIN!

Love
J
